To do nothing about conflict between the powerful and the powerless is not to remain neutral, it is to side with the powerful.

SIR!, NO SIR! is a powerful new film about resistance within the military to the war in Vietnam in the 1960s and 70s. It energetically reveals the untold story of the GI Movement . This is the story of one of the most vibrant and widespread upheavals of the 1960s, one that had a profound impact on American society yet has been virtually obliterated from the collective memory of that time.

Alternating between footage from the era and contemporary interviews with the GIs who were there and defied authority at great risk to themselves and their careers, SIR! NO SIR! goes to the heart of the issue of the moral and ethical responsibilities of soldiers during wartime. The echoes for today and the war in Iraq are undeniable. Included in this thorough account is the famed FTA road show with Donald Sutherland and Jane Fonda. Fonda is on hand with her commentary on her experience with the show and the courage of the GIs who supported it. Even those who lived through that period and thought they knew it well, can learn something from this film.

Two vets, Joe Urgo and David Cline, who were part of the movement and who appear in the film will be on hand for a post screening discussion.
