Church Of Stop Shopping at Crossroads Film Festival

Wed, 03/26/2008 - 9:00am
From the producer/director of Super Size Me, WWJB is an examination of the commercialization of Christmas in America while following Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping Gospel Choir on a cross-country mission to save Christmas from the Shopocalypse (the end of humankind from consumerism, over-consumption and the fires of eternal debt.) The film also delves into issues such as the role sweatshops play in America’s mass consumerism and Big-Box Culture. From the humble beginnings of preaching at his portable pulpit on New York City subways, to having a congregation of thousands - Bill Talen (aka Reverend Billy) has become the leader of not just a church, but a national movement.

Still We Speak Rally/ Critical MASS

Wed, 03/26/2008 - 1:01am
Union Square Park North
17th Street & Park Avenue

One year ago, at the March 2007 Critical Mass ride, cyclists, videographers, community leaders and politicians came together to challenge the NYPD's unconstitutional new parade permit rule that limits the number of people that can legally assemble without a permit.

Join forces with us again this Friday to stand up against these arbitrary and autocratic assembly rules. It is up to us all to defend our rights to free speech and free assembly in public spaces.

Speakers & Entertainment for the rally will include civil rights attorney Normal Siegel, Reverend Billy and Church of Stop Shopping, and representatives from the 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care, Time's Up! video collective and Radical Homosexual Agenda.

Check out new video with an update on the unlawful arrests of videographers and photographers documenting NYPD abuses in Times Square during March 2007 Critical Mass:
